With months to go before the first primary ballots are cast, the field for the 2024 presidential election is set. On the Democratic side, President Biden announced he is running but faces no serious challengers. Former President Donald Trump is mounting a third consecutive bid, and several other Republicans are running or considering a campaign.
Nikki Haley , a former South Carolina governor and member of Trump’s administration, announced her campaign in February 2023. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, 60, announced his candidacy in June. Other Republicans include North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum; former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson; entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy; and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.
